Grief recovery group is forming
Have you recently lost someone close to you? A grief recovery group is starting in the Holyoke area. Those who are interested should contact Steve Cogburn at 970-520-2762 or Dee Walker at 970-774-5250.
Tailgate barbecue planned for Thursday
Alumni and community members are invited to a homecoming tailgate barbecue Thursday, Oct. 7, at 6 p.m. in the Holyoke JR/SR High School parking lot. Groups and/or classes are encouraged to set up an area to eat together. Seaboard is donating the meat, and attendees should take their own sides and school-appropriate drinks.
There will also be vintage Dragon uniforms for sale Thursday evening as well as Friday at the homecoming games.
Silents Night is next Wednesday
Phillips County Historical Society will be showing two silent movies at the museum Wednesday, Oct. 13. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the movies begin at 7 p.m. Concessions will be available, and admission is free. The movies are “It” and the comedy “The Cook.”
ECCLPS to host pigeon race
Early Childhood Council of Logan, Phillips and Sedgwick counties’ second annual Flight for Funds Virtual Pigeon Race is set for Sunday, Oct. 17. Pigeons will be released in Grand Island, Nebraska, at 7 a.m. and will fly approximately 280 miles to arrive in Sterling around 1 p.m. Each bird will be tracked with a chip band, and cash prizes will be awarded for the first-place and last-place ticket holders.
