Plenty of sweet, spooky things to do this weekend

If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, there’s lots going on in and around Holyoke for Halloween and other fall activities.

 

Friday, Oct. 29

Trick or Treat the Town, organized by Holyoke Chamber of Commerce, will provide an opportunity for kids to trick or treat at downtown businesses from 2-5 p.m.

Trunk or Treat is set for 2-5 p.m. in the Melissa Memorial Hospital parking lot.

Heginbotham Library is hosting a Hallowed Harvest Tea for all ages at 1 p.m.

Trick-or-treaters can stop by Highline Electric’s Holyoke office to pick up a light-up safety necklace.

In its last weekend of the season, Pumpkins and More A-maiz-ing Farm will be open Friday from 4-10 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m.-11 p.m. and Sunday from noon-4 p.m. A haunted maize begins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Saturday, Oct. 30

Jolly Dozen FCE Club’s 59th annual Holly Daze craft and gift show will usher in the holiday season Saturday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Phillips County Event Center. A large variety of vendors from Colorado, Kansas and Nebraska will be set up, and lunch will be available.

All ages are invited to Heginbotham Library’s haunted tours from 5-9 p.m.

First Christian Church will be hosting a community carnival from 6-8 p.m. for families with kids in sixth grade and younger. A meal will be provided.

Ballyneal Turtle Bar & Restaurant is having a Halloween party and costume contest. Those in costume will get free appetizers and dessert.

Peerless Theatre will be showing Marvel’s “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

 

Sunday, Oct. 31

The 70th annual Halloween costume parade sponsored by the Holyoke Lions Club is set for 5:30 p.m. at the JR/SR high school old gym. Prizes will be awarded for each age bracket, beginning with babies under age 1 and ending with kids in fifth grade. All participants will also receive a bag of candy and a 50-cent piece.

Camp Machasay’s Mission Impossible event will be held at 61360 County Road 40, Amherst, from 6-8:30 p.m. for kids in grades 7-12. There will be a free dinner in addition to a fun outdoor game. For more info or to RSVP, contact Amanda LaGrange at 970-520-2940 or lagrangeamanda@gmail.com.

Tuxedo Paws and Jake’s Feed are hosting a Halloween open house from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at 344 W. Jules St. The event will include a dog costume contest, fall photo shoot for the whole family, trick-or-treating for both humans and dogs, prizes and more.
