Dan Briggs

Dan Briggs, 74, of Grant, Nebraska, died Jan. 1, 2022, at Perkins County Hospital in Grant.

Dan was born Jan. 10, 1947, in Imperial, Nebraska, to Charles and Eula (McKinster) Briggs. He graduated from Grant High School with the class of 1965.

In June 1966, Dan entered the U.S. Marine Corps. Following his discharge, he returned home and farmed. On Aug. 1, 1970, Dan married Shari Speck, and their union was blessed with four sons.

Dan farmed the majority of his life. He would eventually own and operate Carquest in Imperial.

Dan loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed restoring old tractors.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Michelle; and an infant great-grandson.

Survivors include his wife, Shari of Grant; four sons, Shane Briggs and wife Karma of Ogallala, Nebraska, Chod Briggs and fiancee Christina of Grant, Justin Briggs and wife Nicki of Imperial, and Telly Briggs of Imperial; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Memorials are suggested to the Perkins County Hospital Foundation in Dan’s memory.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 9, 2-4 p.m. at Bullock-Long Funeral Home in Grant.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 10, at 10:30 a.m. at the Grant United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska, at 2 p.m. CT.
