Firehouse fundraising dinner set for Jan. 22

Brick campaign announced

The whole family is invited to a spaghetti dinner Saturday, Jan. 22, to raise funds for a new firehouse for Holyoke Volunteer Fire Department. Dinner will be served from 5-6:30 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 519 S. Interocean Ave., Holyoke. Freewill donations will be accepted.

The evening will include not only good food but also good entertainment by local musician Joe Hall.

HVFD firemen will be available that evening to sell and autograph 2022 calendars, which feature photos from last fall’s fireman fashion show.

Organizer Penny Bailey said a group of volunteers has raised over $30,000 for the new firehouse and would like to see it climb to more than $35,000 by the end of the month. She said that anyone who would like to volunteer time with preparation and/or cleanup for the Jan. 22 dinner can contact her at 575-791-8391.

HVFD is also kicking off a brick fundraising campaign this month to bring in money for the portion of the firehouse that the department is paying for. HVFD members are selling bricks of various sizes, and the bricks will be laid in a pattern as pavers on the west side of the new building.

There will also be special recognition for large donations to the project.

For more info or to purchase bricks, contact Steve Young at 970-466-2133 or Stacy Rueter at 970-520-7758.
