Girls start 2022 with 2 wins
The Lady Dragon varsity basketball team got the ball rolling in 2022 with a win over Burlington at home Friday, Jan. 7, and a win at Yuma the following day.
The Holyoke girls traded in their green for pink Friday for the annual Pink Out game to bring awareness to breast cancer.
They came out of the gates strong, putting up 21 points over Burlington’s five in the first quarter.
Burlington fought back in the next period, outscoring Holyoke 18-12, bringing the halftime score to 33-23 in the Lady Dragons’ favor.
The two teams battled it out in the third, and Holyoke’s 17 points in the fourth quarter secured a strong 67-44 win over Burlington.
“Offensively we played as good as we could,” said coach John Baumgartner.
