Wrestlers show improvement at Chase County Invite

HHS wrestling coach Broc Pelle was pleased to note that Dragon wrestlers showed improvement at the Chase County Invite in Imperial, Nebraska, on Saturday, Jan. 15, over their performance in the triangular Holyoke hosted with Sedgwick County/Fleming and St. Francis, Kansas, on Thursday, Jan. 13

“They were able to capitalize on some of the lessons they learned Thursday and were able to do better Saturday,” Pelle said.

He said that with Tyson Mosenteen out with an injury, all three wrestlers experienced their first triangular last Thursday night — and they’re still getting acclimated to duals.

At both meets, Simon Krueger competed at 145 lbs., Ben Kleve at 152 and Sam Trusty at 160. On Saturday, Kleve scored two wins — one by medical forfeit and one by a 13-6 decision.

Pelle said that moving forward, the wrestlers will work on their movement when on bottom and increasing their mat awareness. Additionally, they will focus on chain wrestling by learning to put moves together.
