Swimmers sweep Valley Triangular, qualify in more events for state meet
Lady Dragon swimmers made a splash last Thursday, Jan. 27, when they won their dual against Valley 95-29 and against Liberty Common 80-79.
Tayla Martin earned second place in the 200-yard IM to qualify for state swimming, and she, Josie Schlachter, Summer Martin and Correy Koellner qualified for state in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a first-place finish.
The Lady Dragons also competed in a tri with Berthoud and Frederick on Tuesday, Jan. 25. Berthoud and Frederick defeated Holyoke in the duals by scores of 174-86 and 133-108 respectively, but Tayla Martin earned first place in the 100-yard backstroke to qualify for state, and Summer Martin qualified with her second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle.
“I am so proud of the girls for working through the season,” said coach Emily Krogmeier. “They are working hard to achieve their goals, and their hard work will really show on Friday and Saturday at conference. I am proud of these girls for working as hard as they are.”
