Disposition hearing for Yessenia Janet Cruz scheduled

The disposition hearing for Yessenia Janet Cruz is scheduled for Tuesday, May 17, at 10:30 a.m.

Cruz is charged with sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, which is a Class 4 felony.

The charge is the result of a Feb. 13 incident in which a Holyoke police officer discovered a vehicle parked in a dark section of a dirt road. In the vehicle, the officer discovered a juvenile male party with Cruz, who at the time was a substitute paraprofessional at Holyoke High School.

The school district took quick action upon receiving the information from law enforcement, and Cruz was immediately relieved of her duties.

Cruz subsequently turned herself in to HPD, where she was taken into custody without incident.
