Hospital CEO resigns

On July 1, Steve Young, chairman of the board of directors for the East Phillips County Hospital District, announced that the board had received the resignation of Melissa Memorial Hospital CEO Cathy Harshbarger earlier that week.
Harshbarger began working at MMH in 2019 as a clinical consultant and then chief clinical officer before becoming the interim CEO in December 2019. She accepted the CEO position in April 2020.
“During her tenure, Cathy provided her valuable experience and leadership to the senior leadership team and employees of the hospital,” said Young.
“Under her leadership, the hospital has made many notable strategic achievements to continue to improve the quality of health care provided to our community. She leaves a talented team in place and the hospital in a positive position for its continued growth,” he said.
Young, on behalf of the board, expressed appreciation for Harshbarger and her contribution to the hospital and wished her success in the future.
MMH has begun the process of locating and appointing a new CEO. Stella Worley, who began working at MMH on March 29, will remain active in her interim CEO role until a new CEO is appointed.
