High temps don’t stifle worship music event in Imperial’s park

On Saturday, July 9, the inaugural Worship in the Park faced triple-digit heat in Imperial, Nebraska, but close to 100 people attended the inspirational music event. The purpose of the gathering was to raise funds for the area’s Ministerial Alliance and bring people of varying faiths and walks of life together for a common cause. Grilled hamburgers and hot dogs fed attendees while canopies and misting stations provided relief from the sun. Crossroads Wesleyan Church hosted the event and hopes to bring it back annually. Praise and worship individuals and teams from five different churches shared their talents and comments with the crowd. The praise and worship band from the First Christian Church of Holyoke performed a number of contemporary Christian songs. They are pictured from left, front row, Karlie Martin, Emmy Brown and Elly Brown; and back row, Pastor Mike Brown, Diego Gonzalez Trejo, Cory Marner (partially hidden), Jimmy French and Wade Warren. — Becky Kuntzelman | The Imperial Republican
