Martin, Sprague Running as Wildcats with Fleming Cross Country

 

 

 

Two HHS athletes are temporarily ditching the Dragon Mascot in favor of a Wildcat this Fall while competing with Fleming’s cross country team coached by Jared Anderson and Becky Harms. 

Junior Classmates, Teagan Martin and Mason Sprague, have been running with the Wildcats this year, and while their season is already well underway, the duo has two remaining competitions with the Fleming team. 

On October 10, Martin and Sprague compete in Sidney, Nebraska at Hillside Golf Course. The boys’ team earned fifth place overall in Sidney. Martin ran the 5,000 meter in 18.15 placing sixteenth, while Sprague finished thirty-second crossing the finish line clocking a 20.27 time. 

 

 Prior to Sidney, the Brush High School Invite was held on September 28 at The Course at Pettey’s Park in Brush, Colorado. As a team, the Fleming boys cross country finished in second place ovverall behind Fort Morgan. Martin clocked a time of 19:58.80 at the Invite, earning a fifth place finish. Sprague placed 15th, coming in at the time of 22:42.70. 

Earlier in the season, the Wildcat’s competitions were held in Sterling, Fort Morgan and Loveland. Coming up, the Fleming Wildcats cross country team includes Regionals on October 24 at Lyons Middle Senior High School with a starting time for the boy’s at 3 p.m. The final competition of the year will be November 2 for State at Norris Penrose Event Center in Colorado Springs
