Althea Carlstrom

Catherine Althea Carlstrom was born March 11, 1924, to Carl and Lettie Geer in Longmont. She had four sisters — Elma, Dorothy, Maxine and Betty — and two older brothers — Ralph and Bob. She died Jan. 5, 2018.
She graduated from Walden High School in 1942. Althea married Kenneth Carlstrom on Nov. 5, 1942. Three sons were born to this union: Robert, Dennis and Lonnie.
She lived most of her life in North Park as a ranch wife. She and Kenny owned several businesses in North Park together throughout the years. Althea was a most respected woman in North Park. She was president of North Park CowBelles, the Rebekah Lodge, the Women’s Club and the Ladies Auxiliary Post 2371. She worked her way to state president of the auxiliary.
She and Kenny traveled extensively with the VFW, even taking a team of burros to Chicago. Althea was a loving wife, mother and friend. She loved entertaining friends at a meal; usually cards were played afterward.
She spent her last years in Holyoke at Regent Park Nursing & Rehab.
Althea was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; two brothers; her husband, Kenneth; and her son, Dennis.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Carlstrom and wife Linda and Lonnie Carlstrom and wife Deb; grandchildren, Dean Carlstrom and wife Shelly, Clint Carlstrom and wife Cassie, Chad Carlstrom and wife Chrissy, Kristi Bertron and husband Darren, Travis Carlstrom and wife Kristy, Bobbi Buchholz and husband Tim, and Jamie Logue and husband Andrew; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Althea will be missed by many family members and friends, but they know she is in a better place, getting reacquainted with family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 26, in Walden.
