Beverly Ann Sharpe, age 84, died at Melissa Memorial Hospital in Holyoke on March 5, 2020, surrounded by her family. She was born in Crested Butte on Oct. 2, 1935.

As a child, Beverly took advantage of all that Crested Butte had to offer, frequently going ice skating, sledding, skiing, fishing and hiking. Beverly graduated from high school in 1953 and went to work for the Equitable Life Insurance Company in Denver.

While working in Denver, Beverly met the love of her life, Keith Sharpe, who had just returned from the Korean War. The two shared a passion for Chinese food and dancing.

Beverly and Keith were married Oct. 31, 1954, and made their home in Haxtun. Over the years, Beverly served in several local clubs and organizations. She was a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority and served as its president. Beverly was also actively involved with the American Heart Association and worked in conjunction with the Colorado Department of Health to ensure that Haxtun students received strep cultures in the 1960s.

Beverly was a member of the Haxtun United Methodist Church and served for a time as church secretary. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women’s group and volunteered to help the Haxtun Boy Scouts.

Beverly enjoyed many different hobbies and activities during her life. She was a co-owner of G&B Ceramics, where many Haxtun ladies gathered to create beautiful ceramic works of art. Beverly was also an excellent cook who loved to bake. She particularly enjoyed baking and decorating beautiful birthday cakes for her entire family.

Beverly also loved the holiday seasons. Family gatherings were always at her house, where family and guests were treated with wonderful food and homemade cookies, fudge and desserts.

More than anything, Beverly enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Beverly was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who loved and cared for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of selfless sacrifice and enduring love.

Beverly is survived by her daughter, Cindy Sharpe-Kaus and husband Dan of Haxtun; son, Steven Sharpe and wife Lily of Cheyenne, Wyoming; six grandchildren, Brett, Kati, Spencer, Griffen, Logan, and Macrina and husband Cody; and three great-grandchildren, Emma, Josie and Jackson.
