Carl Brandt

Carl Frank Brandt was born March 30, 1940, near Julesburg, to Arnold Herman and Alta Irene (Brown) Brandt. He died Feb. 15, 2018, at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 77.
Carl attended school in Julesburg, graduating from Julesburg High School with the Class of 1958. After graduating, he worked as a farmhand, machinist and mason.
On March 13, 1959, he was united in marriage to Maxine Jean Abts in Crook. Four children were born to this union: Becky, Jerry, Tony and Donna. They moved to Norfolk, Nebraska, where Carl attended school at Nebraska Christian College.
After graduating, Carl was a minister at many towns, including Tilden, Alliance and Palmer, Nebraska; Hartshorne and Vici, Oklahoma; Caney, Kansas; and Bagley, Osceola, Sloan and Henderson, Iowa. Carl was still the minister at the Henderson Christian Church at the time of his death.
Carl loved doing mission work, especially if it involved construction. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, playing cards and almost anything that was competitive. He enjoyed gardening and canning the produce to give away. Carl especially loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Carl is survived by his wife, Maxine of Henderson, Iowa; children, Becky Brandt of Farmington, New Mexico, Jerry Brandt and wife Debbie of Holyoke, Tony Brandt and wife Monica of Griswold, Iowa, and Donna Powell and husband Dennis of Broomfield; grandchildren, John, Skyler and his wife Kelli, Christian, Dillon and his wife Ashley, Jes-c and her husband Jimmy, Camron and his wife Ashley, Nicole, Carly and her husband Jake, Becca, Taylor, Brighton, A.J., Issac and Dani; great-grandchildren, Lily and Jack; and brothers, Robert Brandt and wife Connie, Lloyd Brandt and Dale Brandt. Carl is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 20, at the Central Church of Christ in Griswold.
A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 22, at 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Church in Holyoke. Interment will be follow at the Julesburg cemetery at 2 p.m.
