Dale O’Neal

Dale Lee O’Neal was born in Wages on Sept. 29, 1931. He died Sept. 14, 2019. His parents were Theodore and Grace Struckmeyer O’Neal.

Dale and his wife Nelda were married at the Holyoke Methodist Church on July 25, 1954. In December 1955, Dale entered the Army and served most of the next two years in Augusta, Georgia.

The family moved back to Holyoke in September 1957, where Dale started his construction business. Dale O’Neal Construction Company built over 150 new homes and Butler buildings in Holyoke and the surrounding area. He also completed several remodeling jobs and farm buildings.

He is survived by his son Roger and Violet and grandson River of California; daughter Danna and Ron of Oklahoma; son Ted and grandchildren Kathryn, Richie and Connor of California; granddaughter Amber and Keith and great-grandchildren Cole, Jade and Sierra of Oklahoma; and grandson Kyle and Lindsay and great-grandson Greyson of Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Nelda; parents, Ted and Grace O’Neal; and sister, Betty Brown.

A celebration of life service was held Sept. 28 at Phillips County Event Center. Private inurnment followed at the Holyoke Cemetery.

Memorials can be given to the First United Methodist Church of Holyoke.
