Deb Kropp

Debra Jo Kropp, age 62, died peacefully Feb. 19, 2022, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born Feb. 13, 1960, in Greeley to Larry and Mardell York. They moved to Holyoke from Johnstown in 1975.

High school sweethearts Debra and Vince married in 1978. Debra was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her time with family and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as grandma. Debra was know for her kindness and big, welcoming smile.

As her children got older, Debra worked various jobs. She enjoyed working at the Flower Garden and spending time with the Flower Garden crew. She was a paraprofessional at Holyoke Elementary, worked at the nursing home and sold sugar beet seed with Connie Reuter.

Debra’s life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32: “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.” Debra was famous for saying “always be kind.”

Debra and Vince would have been married 44 years in June, and Debra was looking forward to Vince’s retirement. Debra and Vince moved to Lake McConaughy in 2018, and they both were looking forward to spending many more years together at the lake house. It broke our hearts to lose you, and we were blessed with the best.

Debra is survived by her husband, Vince; son, Casey and wife Kathleen; daughter, Amy; her four beautiful granddaughters, Elby, Katelyn, Isabelle and Molly; father, Larry York; and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mardell York; brother, Larry Scott York; and grandparents, Elby and George Scott and Faye and Richard York.

Her celebration of life was held Feb. 25 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Father Jerry Rohr officiated the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Deb Kropp Memorial Fund.
