Deborah Lynn “Debbie” Thompson was born June 20, 1964, to A. Clayton and Diane (Norman) Holmes in Loveland. Debbie was later adopted by Larry Thompson when he and Diane married in 1972. Debbie died Jan. 14, 2022, at North Colorado Medical Center Hospice Unit in Greeley at the age of 57 after losing her battle with cancer.

Debbie attended Holyoke High School and graduated in 1982.

After high school, Debbie attended Aims Community College for two years.

In Greeley, Debbie did secretarial work for a construction company and worked in a golf club snack bar. She moved to Los Angeles, California, and while there she worked for the Showtime Movie Channel for two years. She moved back to Denver and lived with Nancy Pillard and worked for General Electric. She later moved to Fort Collins and worked for several engineering consulting firms, including ENSR, AE Com and Stantec, where she was still working.

Debbie loved all sports but was known as an avid Denver Broncos fan. She loved being with children. She began baby­sitting when in high school, and when she moved throughout her life, she always found children to care for. She loved everything Disney, including movies, books and songs. She loved playing board games and cards with family and friends.

Debbie was a member of the Holyoke Methodist Church. In Fort Collins she was a member of the Women’s Circle, doing Bible studies and other Methodist Church activities.

Debbie was preceded in death by her biological father, A. Clayton Holmes; father, Larry Thompson; great-grandparent, Mary Canaday; grandparents, Albert and Alice Holmes, Wayne and Thelma Norman, and Maurice and Bernice Thompson; and aunt, Sharon Thompson.

Debbie is survived by her mother, Diane K. Thompson of Holyoke; brothers, Jeremy W. Thompson and Toby A. Thompson and wife Jackie, all of Holyoke; nephew, Gehrig Thompson of Haxtun; nieces, Mackenzie Thompson of Sterling and Emma Thompson of Holyoke; uncle, Ronald Thompson of Holyoke; uncle Tommy and aunt Sharon Thompson of Haxtun; aunt, Mary Eckhardt of Commerce City; and numerous cousins.

The funeral service was held Jan. 21, with Reverend Paul Brunner officiating. A private family burial was held at Holyoke Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given in Debbie’s name to the Hospitality House at North Colorado Medical Center, 1801 16th St., Greeley, CO 80631.

Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.
