Donna Mae Lindsay Michael died May 26, 2021, at MCR in Loveland at the age of 85 from complications following a fractured hip. She was the only daughter born to James Lindsay and Grace (Boyd) Lindsay in Mars Hill, Maine, on Aug. 7, 1935.

Donna attended school in Danforth, Maine, and following graduation, she moved to Presque Isle, Maine, where she shared an apartment with a friend and worked as a telephone operator. It was during this time that she met her future husband, Leonard, while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force.

Donna married Leonard Michael on March 28, 1956, in Danforth, Maine. To this union, two children were born: Bradley James and Vicki Lynn. Leonard and Donna made their home on a farm northeast of Haxtun until health issues made it necessary to move to Regent Park Nursing Home in January 2018.

She settled into married life and being a farmer’s wife with great enthusiasm. Leonard and Donna attended the Fairfield Covenant Church and Berean Bible Church in Haxtun. She served for many years on committees at both churches, including kitchen committees, sharing her talent as a great hostess, cook and baker.

Her greatest joys were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, often taking time with each of them to teach them in the kitchen, as well as spending time with them exploring nature — she loved the outdoors. Donna enjoyed hosting groups of family and friends, large and small, making her house into a lovely home for her family, reading and gardening. She especially loved raising all colors and varieties of iris and making huge bouquets to display in her home.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Michael; daughter-in-law, Deb Michael; parents, James and Grace Lindsay; brother, Gerald Lindsay; stepbrothers, Vaughn Murray and Atleigh Murray; and nephew, Garret Lindsay.

Donna is survived by her son, Bradley of Haxtun; daughter, Vicki Benson and husband Rex of Sterling; grandchildren, Andrea Schlachter and husband Hazen of Holyoke, Aaron Michael and wife Elizabeth of Haxtun, and Alan Michael and wife Kimberlee of Haxtun; great-grandchildren, Nicole, Ryan and Meredith Schlachter and Colton Michael; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held June 2 at the Berean Bible Church in Haxtun. Burial followed at the Fairfield Cemetery.
