Doris McCune

    Doris F. McCune, age 93, of Fremont, Nebraska, died Nov. 30, 2017, at Hooper Care Center in Hooper, Nebraska. Doris was born June 17, 1924, in Glenville, Nebraska, to Rant and Margaret (Dudden) Goldenstein.
    Doris married Harvey McCune on Aug. 15, 1943, in Glenville, Nebraska. They moved to Holyoke after their marriage and lived there until Harvey passed away Sept. 15, 2010. Doris then moved to Fremont, Nebraska, in 2011. She moved to Hooper in 2013.
    She was a very active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amherst. She loved spending time and enjoying farm life, along with gardening and growing vegetables and flowers. Doris was a long-time employee at the Amherst Co-op Elevator, where she made many lifelong friends. She also volunteered for many years at the Julesburg Welcome Center.
    She is survived by her son, Byron and wife Roma McCune of Arlington, Nebraska; and grandson, Jeff and wife Sara McCune and their children Joshua and Callie of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
    She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; son, Robert McCune; and brothers, LaVerne Goldenstein and Bob Goldenstein.
    The funeral service was held Dec. 5 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amherst, with burial following at Holyoke Cemetery.
    Memorials may be directed to the family for further designation.
