Dorothy Scott

    Dorothy Virginia Scott was born in Holyoke Aug. 1, 1929, to Ross and Mae (Werner) Stewart. She died June 28, 2017, at Regent Park Nursing Facility in Holyoke.
    Dorothy and E. Blaine Scott were married May 15, 1948, in Holyoke, and celebrated 55 years together before Blaine’s death in January of 2004.
    Dorothy was always an active member of the Holyoke community. She was a pioneer in establishing woman-owned businesses with two very successful companies — DeVee Floral and D. Scott Realty.
    After over 50 years in the business world, she retired in 2013 at the age of 84.
    She was also active in the Chamber of Commerce and the Holyoke Community Federal Credit Union. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling with her husband.
    Many will remember that she was always willing to lend a hand to those in need and that she mentored many young people over the years.
    Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Blaine.
    She is survived by her daughter, Billie Caldwell of Denver; son, Marc Scott and his wife Sonia of Centennial; sister, Carol Manupella of New Castle; brother, Jim Sewart of Rifle; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
    Graveside services will be held at a later date. Baucke Funeral Home of Holyoke is handling the arrangements.
