Harold Harmon

Harold Wayne Harmon was born Aug. 7, 1937, in Imperial, Nebraska, to George and Marietta (Munson) Harmon. He died early morning Nov. 28, 2019, at the Wauneta Care and Therapy Center in Wauneta, Nebraska. He was 82 years of age.

Harold grew up and attended school in the Champion-Lamar, Nebraska, area. As a young man, he assisted on the family farm and became a farmer himself, farming near Champion for many years.

Harold was married to Frances Weiss and Jan Liebhart. He married Judy Troudt on May 26, 2006.

He was an artisan in his own right, playing in three different Western bands. He enjoyed hunting and camping in the mountains and loved fishing on his boat, “The Blue Angel.” Harold was a charter member of the Imperial Eagles Aerie No. 3472, as well as an Elks member of Wray.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Harmon of Champion; sons, Dennis Harmon and wife Jennifer of Longview, Texas, Rick Harmon and wife Jo of Worland, Wyoming, and Randy Harmon and wife Brenda of Rush; daughter, Carol Horinek of Loveland; brothers, Martin Harmon of Imperial and Robert Harmon and wife Mary of Imperial; sister, Gerietta Morse of Imperial; grandchildren, Venessa Harmon, Cassidy Larison , Heather and Aaron Bassett, Hannah and Abhishek Neelam, Lydia Harmon, Naomi Harmon, Luke Harmon, Justin and Judi Horinek, and Travis Horinek; great-grandchildren, Lilianna, Aden, Lucian, Beau and Forrest; great-great-grandchild, Aden; stepchildren, Ron Liebhart, Mike and Cristie Liebhart, Dan and Stacy Liebhart, Cheryl Cecile, and Robyn and Jeremy Wheatcraft; step-grandchildren, Zane, Chance, Cooper, Katelyn, Brock, Ashlee and Mark Longwell, Maria and Ryan Reid, and Melissa Pope; and step-great-grandchild, Michael.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jan Liebhart; sons, Russell and Timothy; brother, Levi Harmon; great-granddaughter, Journey; brother-in-law, Elwin Morse; and nephew, Arlyn Morse.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Oct. 10, at 10:30 a.m. at the Champion Community Center, with Jim Smith officiating. The Chase County Museum of Champion will be open after services for people to view some of Harold’s displays.

There will be no viewing, as Harold chose cremation.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Champion Community Center.
