Jayne Witzki

Jayne L. Witzki, 68, of Venango, Nebraska, died Nov. 8, 2022, at Regent Park Nursing Home in Holyoke. 

Jayne was born Feb. 8, 1954, to Marvin and Marcella (Ogden) Witzki in Holyoke. She graduated from Venango High School with the class of 1972.

Jayne had worked at the elevator in Venango for some years. She met John Potts, and the two were married in 1978. Their union was blessed with two children, Jared and Jennifer. 

Following a divorce, Jayne went to nursing school and became an LPN. She subsequently moved to Lexington, Nebraska, where she worked at the Plum Creek Nursing Home for nearly 10 years. She would later return to Venango to help her dad on the farm and work at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala, Nebraska. Before her nursing career ended, Jayne worked at Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant, Nebraska, and, most recently, at Regent Park in Holyoke. 

Jayne poured her heart into the care she gave to others. She loved and found great joy and pride in her grandchildren. She also had a deep love and care for animals, including her horses, dogs, cats and even a couple of goats. Jayne was intensely private, but those privileged to have known her well could attest to her giving heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Jayne is survived by her children Jared and Melissa Potts of Grant and Jennifer and Joe Tatum of Grant; grandchildren Josey, Eli, Kenna, Rally, Riggin and Ryeker; brother Kim and Merry Witzki of Gering, Nebraska; uncles Gary Ogden of Omaha, Nebraska, and LaVern Ogden and Janet Schilling of Venango; and other relatives and friends.

A memorial has been established in Jayne’s memory for later designation by her family. Condolences may be shared at bullocklongfuneral home.com, where the service will be streamed live.

Memorial services will be held Friday, Nov. 18, at 10:30 a.m. at the Grant Evangelical Free Church, with Pastor Russ Gaar officiating. No inurnment is planned at this time.
