Jim Fisher

    Jimmy Lewis Fisher was born March 27, 1945, to John O. and Jessie (Holtzman) Fisher in Holyoke. He died Jan. 5, 2018, very peacefully at his home in Holyoke at the age of 72.
    Jim attended the Holyoke schools and graduated with the class of 1963 and then attended Northeastern Junior College in Sterling. He served his country in the Army National Guard from 1965-1971.
    Jim married Carolyn Anne (Heltenberg) Fisher on July 3, 1970, in Holyoke.
    Jim’s working careers included working at Kramer Farms, Roy Knight Construction and Shop-All Super Foods, and he was a co-owner of Pix Super Foods.
    Jim was a lifetime member of the Holyoke Gun Club, and he was an avid hunter and fisherman along with being an avid supporter of Holyoke athletics.
    On Dec. 6, 1984, Jim and Carolyn were blessed with becoming first-time parents with the arrival of their daughters from South Korea, Joanie and Ellie.
    Jim was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jessie Fisher; brother, John Fisher, and sister-in-law, Lou Fisher; brother, Bob Fisher; and niece, Lisa Hickman.
    Jim is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Carolyn Fisher of Holyoke; daughter, Joanie Washington and husband Gary Washington of Sheffield Village, Ohio; daughter, Ellie Smith and husband Kyle Smith of Albuquerque, New Mexico; grandchildren, Xandra Lock, Novi Lock, Ava Lock, Grant Washington and Easton Smith; sister-in-law, Deloris Fisher; and nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and a host of many friends.
    The memorial service was held Jan. 12 at First Christian Church in Holyoke, with Pastor Merle Powell officiating. Inurnment was at the Holyoke Cemetery.
    Memorial contributions can be made to the Holyoke Lions Club Fishin’ Hole.
    Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.
