Jim Muths

    James “Jim” Muths was born Feb. 7, 1942, in Haxtun and died Nov. 1, 2018, in Holyoke.
    He attended school in Sedgwick and Haxtun and graduated from Haxtun High School in 1960.
    He married Frances Wett­stein on Aug. 10, 1963, in Holyoke, and to this union, three sons were born: Timothy, Paul and Shawn.
    Jim worked several jobs before going to work for the Colorado State Highway Department, where he worked for nearly 20 years. He also worked in agriculture, helping his father farm and eventually farming himself.
    In his free time, he liked working on various projects in his shop. He enjoyed restoring old cars and tractors (especially old Ford tractors). He also enjoyed playing cards with friends and family and was a member of the Rural Fire Board.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Gertie Muths; his brothers, Terry Muths and Ralph Unrein; and two infant sons, Paul and Shawn.
    He is survived by his wife, Frances; son, Timothy and wife Tammy of Fort Worth, Texas; three sisters, Clydeen Kaberline of Mesa, Arizona, Janice Bornhoft of Atwood, and Jo Dell Murray and husband Richard of Holyoke; and three grandchildren, John, Abigail and Megan Muths.
    The rosary was scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Holyoke.
    The funeral Mass was scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 8, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Inurnment was set for Holyoke Cemetery.
    Memorial contributions may be made to Melissa Memorial Hospital.
    Baucke Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
