John Everitt was born on March 16, 1963, to William and Dixie (Solomon) Everitt in Denver. His family lived in Franktown until 1972 when they moved to Grover.

He graduated from Pawnee High School in 1981. He attended Northeastern Junior College where he received a degree in ag mechanics. While at NJC, he met Janice Axtell and quickly fell in love. Three months later they were engaged, and they were married two years later on June 25, 1983.

After they married, John and Janice moved to Haxtun where they began working for Lorin and Phyllis and Richard and Cathy Starkebaum. In July 1984, they welcomed a son, Matthew Curtis, and in October 1987, they welcomed their daughter, Pamela Marie.

John was an avid golfer and president of the F&H Golf Course. He was president of the Northeast Colorado Gideon Camp and a board member of the local FSA office. He also was a member of Haxtun United Methodist Church where he served on numerous boards and was the confirmation teacher for over 20 years.

John was a devoted and loving husband, phenomenal father, and the best grandpa any kid could ask for. He was an incredible friend, calm voice of reason and solid advice giver.

He was a farmer who loved watching God’s presence in the morning sunrise. He understood that he could plant the seed but it was up to God to make it grow. He saw the beauty in life and in death. He was a pillar in the community, stood for truth, and was loved and will be missed by many.
