John Thompson Jr.

    John Clarence Thompson was born Dec. 30, 1954, in Holyoke to John and Berneice Thompson. John died Dec. 26, 2017, at his home in Colby, Kansas.
    John was active in wrestling, band and music through his high school years. He graduated in 1973.
    John married Carol Jo Gingles on Sept. 30, 1978, in Yuma and had two sons, Jedidiah and Joshua, and later divorced. He was active with his sons in Scouts and was a Scout master.
    John worked at multiple jobs but mainly in construction. He enjoyed working at camp with adults with special needs by leading the worship songs and doing devotionals. John really enjoyed singing, listening to classic music and making leather crafts.
    He was preceded in death by his parents.
    John is survived by his sons, Jedidiah and wife Kristin of Fort Collins and Joshua of Roggen; brothers, Arthur of Klamath Falls, Oregon, and Pat and wife Shelly of Goodland, Kansas; sister, Jo and husband Terry of Goodland; and nieces and nephews.
    A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 10, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Goodland.
