Larry Eben Peckham, 74, of Denver, died quietly, surrounded by family, on Aug. 8, 2019, at Rose Medical Center in Denver. Larry was born in Holyoke in 1945 to Earl Gustaves and Rose Marie (Pump) Peckham. Larry was the second of five boys.

Larry graduated from Holyoke High School at 17 years of age and went on to earn his associate degree in accounting at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling.

He began his career and started a family in Denver following junior college. Larry had two sons, Brent E. Peckham and Todd W. Peckham, whom he moved back to Holyoke to raise while they were young. In the years to follow, he eventually found his way back to Denver where he lived out the rest of his life.

Larry enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting; trips to Mexico and Alaska; and tending to his yard and garden. He was particularly proud of his backyard koi pond. But most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, having them, their friends and his friends over to his home.

Larry, known fondly to many as “Lare-Bear,” “Uncle” or “Poppa Larry,” will be missed for his generosity of time and spirit, for always being available with a shoulder to lean on, and especially for his honest, knowledgeable advice.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Rose; and by his four brothers, Gary, Terry, Lanny and Randy.

His memory lives on through his son, Brent Peckham and wife Sherrie and their three children, Megan, Scott and Laura; son, Todd Peckham; grand-dog, Biscuit; three great-granddaughters; sister-in-law, Sharon Peckham; nephews, Gary, Tony and JC; and many beloved cousins and friends.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, Aug. 24, at 10 a.m. at Holyoke Church of Christ, 105 W. Scheunemann St. Following the service, he will be laid to rest near two of his brothers at Holyoke Cemetery.
