Lucia Leticia Dominguez Olivas died and opened the gates of heaven on Sept. 4, 2020. For seven years, she battled cancer with every ounce of willpower.

Lucia was born Dec. 13, 1956, in 6 de Enero, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Ramon Olivas Hernandez and Hortencia Najera Villalba. She lived in Mexico until 1980 when she and Arturo settled down and grew their family in Holyoke.

Lucia Dominguez: a devoted mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend. She fought through her worst and was still able to make sure she could provide a loving home. She always made people feel welcome whether she knew them or not, and no one could leave without a full belly.

She had the most contagious smile. She loved her grandchildren and children very much and never left one out. Words cannot describe how much Lucia did for this family. Not once did she complain. She was so grateful and full of love, and life could never bring her down. She would selflessly sacrifice herself if it meant helping others.

Lucia was a woman who left the biggest impact. She might not have been here forever, but her memory will live on forever in our hearts.

She is survived by her parents, Ramon Olivas Hernandez and Hortencia Najera Villalba; husband, Arturo Dominguez; children, Omar and Edgar; siblings, Sigi, Arturo and Carmen; grandchildren, Monica, Andy, Aaron, Jaden, Ava, Noey, Jaslene and Eddie; great-grandchild, Jaziel; daughters-in-law, Beatriz, Shannon and Julissa; and grandson-in-law, Alex Chaparro.

She was preceded in death by her son, Arturo.

The funeral Mass was held Sept. 10 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with interment at Holyoke Cemetery.

Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.
