Lynn Gardner

    Dr. Lynn Gardner, age 79, of Carl Junction, Missouri, died Aug. 23, 2018. He received a double-lung transplant in 2004. He was told that transplant would give him five years. It had been 14 years when he died as the result of a stroke.
    He and Barbara Thompson were wed in 1961. He graduated from Ozark Christian College in 1961. He ministered at four churches before becoming a teacher at Central Christian College of the Bible in Moberly, Missouri.
    After six years, he went to Ozark Christian College in Joplin, Missouri. There he taught for 34 years; 17 of those years he was the academic dean. He retired in 2006. He authored 10 books, and several have been translated into Korean, Russian, Polish and Spanish.
    He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Bryce and wife Nancy of Santee, California; daughter, Kara Arnce and husband Bob of Joplin; daughter-in-law, Cean Gardner of Carl Junction; four grandchildren; two brothers and a brother-in-law; and sisters- and brothers-in-law, Hilda and Neil Hassler of Holyoke, Marilyn and Bill Ticknor of Fort Lupton, and Mike and Susan Thompson of Paradise Valley, Arizona.
    He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Gardner, in 1999; his brother, Greg; and his sister, Gwendolyn Stone.
