In 1985, Larry and Mardell moved to Greeley, where Mardell worked at Aims Community College. Mardell and Larry often traveled to watch their two grandchildren, Casey and Amy, participate in their school activities.

Mardell never knew a stranger and will be remembered for her kindness, loving heart and her faith. She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mardell was a two-time breast cancer survivor. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Holyoke.
