Marian Adelaide (Briggs) Ferguson, 78, of Holyoke, died Feb. 18, 2022, at Melissa Memorial Hospital in Holyoke. Marian was born May 6, 1943, in Holyoke to Lawrence and Gertrude (Statz) Briggs.

She attended school in Holyoke where she graduated in 1961. In August of 1966 on the 28th, she married Leon Dale Ferguson in Holyoke. They were blessed with two children, LeMoine Arlo Ferguson and Nicholas Gale Ferguson.

Marian held many jobs and kept herself busy throughout the next several years. Those included working at Melissa Memorial Hospital, the nursing home, the school district and meals on wheels. June 10 of 1996 Marian purchased the Kountry Krock from Doug and Pat Kamery and named the restaurant The Staple F. The new name was derived from the Arlo Ferguson family brand.

She continued to run the restaurant until she found her forever job doing what she loved most. Marian took on her forever job in May of 1998 when she moved out to Frenchman Heights to care for her first patient, Esther Brandt. She took pride in knowing she would be the caretaker to people in need and make the patient and family’s wishes a priority.

In time of caring for people, Marian also took on other side jobs as she loved to cook. She cooked for the Lions Club for their monthly meetings and took orders from people to make dinner rolls, cinnamon rolls and cabbage pockets.
