Marilyn Rae Stroh was born June 2, 1931, in Greeley to William and Vera Schneider. She died March 10, 2017, at the age of 85, surrounded by her family.
Marilyn was raised in the Wiggins and Orchard area. She had a twin sister and two brothers. After attending and graduating from high school in Wiggins, Marilyn attended Colorado Women’s College in Greeley on a scholarship, majoring in mathematics.
While attending college, Marilyn married William Stroh in 1950. The first couple years of married life were spent as a military bride at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. After that, they moved back to Wiggins and purchased their first family farm. In 1970, they moved to Holyoke, where they began their own farming and feedlot operation.
Marilyn was very passionate about doing anything that needed to be done on the farm and with her favorite hobbies. She loved spending time outdoors in her beautifully manicured yard and huge garden.
Cooking was another of her favorite things. No one walked away from her table without being happily well-fed by her cooking expertise. She loved cooking huge meals, and those who worked on the cattle processing crews and harvest crews were spoiled with one of her favorite recipes for cabbage pockets.
Marilyn had such a gracious heart. She could find the positive in every situation and every person she met. Marilyn could get more done with a smile and a question of genuine concern. She loved having company, whether it was family or friends, and it truly showed through the smile on her face.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her sons, Larry and Tim Stroh; twin sister, Marjorie Schneider; parents, William and Vera Schneider; and brothers, George and Harlan Schneider.
She is survived by her husband of 67-plus years, William of Holyoke; son, Duane Stroh and wife Melissa; son, Tom Stroh and girlfriend Sue Marreel; daughter, Linda and husband Charles Flint; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, with two more great-grandchildren due in October.
Marilyn was a member of First Christian Church.
Visitation was scheduled for Wednesday, March 15, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at Baucke Funeral Chapel in Holyoke.
Services were scheduled for Thursday, March 16, at 2 p.m. at Baucke Funeral Chapel. Interment was set to follow at Holyoke Cemetery.
