Mike Hibbard

    Michael Wade Hibbard was born July 25, 1946, in Hastings, Nebraska, to Charles and JoAlice (Harlan) Hibbard. He died peacefully at his home in Holyoke on June 26, 2018.
    Mike served in the Navy from 1965-1969. During this time he was aboard the aircraft carrier Bonne Homme Richard in Vietnam. After his discharge from the Navy and a few business ventures, Mike went to work for Dover Elevator Co. He worked for Dover for 31 years, retiring in July of 2001.
     On June 14, 1986, Mike married Janice (Petersen) Lenhart in Holyoke. After retirement from Dover, Mike and Janice moved to Holyoke and were involved in the operating of Lucky’s Liquor until 2014.
    Mike is survived by his wife, Janice Hibbard; mother, Jobie Hibbard; daughters from a previous marriage, Desi Thomas and husband Tom and Danea Bjork; sons, Bryan Lenhart and Brad Lenhart and wife Cindy; eight grandchildren; uncle, Frank Hibbard; cousins, Mel and Sally Moore, Cindy Clark, and John and Jeanne Markley; sisters-in-law, Teri Waln and Kathy Petersen; brother-in-law, Dan Waln; nephews, Chris Waln, Todd Waln, Beau Waln and wife Carrie, Mike Petersen and Erik Petersen; nice, Cindy Wilson; and many other relatives and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Charles; grandson, Brandon Lenhart; nephew, Tyler Waln; father- and mother-in-law, Kermit and Myrtle Petersen; brother-in-law, Ron Petersen; uncles, Jerry Harlan, Gordon Brooks and Dick Markley; and aunts, Sally Hibbard, Betty Brooks and Mary Ellen (Murph) Markley.
    A private memorial service was held July 7 at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Gary Rahe officiating.
