Pauline Mathews

Pauline Fern Mathews, 79, of Sterling died July 10, 2017, in Sterling. She was born Jan. 28, 1937, in Haxtun to Floyd and Jessie (Moser) Mathews.
    She graduated from high school and was a housekeeper at a motel in Julesburg. She also took care of her mother after her father passed away in Holyoke. She enjoyed crafts and her family history.
    She grew up around Haxtun and several years later moved to Julesburg until the death of her father. She and her mother then moved to Holyoke. She stayed and lived in Holyoke until a year ago when she moved to Sterling.
    Pauline is survived by her sister, Scharlene M. Legg of Haxtun; brother, Bobby Mathews and wife Alice; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Floyd; and sisters, Maxine Johnson and Veraline Oehler.
    Private family inurnment will be held at the Haxtun Cemetery at a later date.
    Tennant Funeral Home and Crematory in Sterling was entrusted with arrangements.
