Sonny Voges

   George “Sonny” Maurice Voges was born June 30, 1940, in Haxtun. He was the second child of George Andrew and Anna M. (Higdon) Voges of Holyoke. He died July 26, 2017.
    Sonny attended Holyoke schools and graduated in 1958. He worked on the family farm and attended CSU in Fort Collins, graduating with an ag degree. He continued to work on the family farm until it was sold in 1984. After that, he drove a truck, owned an antique store and was an insurance adjuster.
    Sonny loved to travel and was a faithful member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, where he was a fourth-degree Knight of Columbus. He always had a dog for a companion. Many times he would be seen out walking with his dog.
     Sonny was preceded in death by his mother and father; his sister, Eva (Voges) Ferguson; and his great-nephew, Todd Kramer.
    He is survived by Karin Kramer and family, Kristi Hillicker and family, Rance Ferguson and family, and Wade Ferguson and family.
    There was a rosary on July 31, with a funeral Mass on Aug. 1, both at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Holyoke. Interment followed at the Holyoke Cemetery.
    Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.
