2017 a success for the Eastern Colorado Community Fund

    As happens every January, the New Year brings an opportunity to reflect on what has passed and anticipate what is to come. One year ago, I assumed the role of director of the Eastern Colorado Community Fund with great excitement for what we could accomplish for northeast Colorado. My enthusiasm grows each day as I meet with the most passionate and generous people in our region. Northeast Colorado is home to thoughtful, big-hearted individuals who want to give back in tremendous ways, but many struggle to find an appropriate way to do so. The ECCF offers customized charitable solutions to overcome that barrier and help local residents give now and for future generations.
    A fund with the ECCF offers the flexibility to give when and how you want. Last year several community members created donor-advised funds to organize charitable contributions, take advantage of tax benefits and teach their families the importance of giving back. Two other residents established designated funds that will provide scholarships to high school students and grant money to a local church in perpetuity. Funds can be opened with many types of assets. Last year one family donated mineral interests in Yuma County and another created a donor-advised fund using the proceeds from the sale of a property.
