Phillips County 4-H is celebrating National Volunteer Week April 7-13. A volunteer leader is the heart of the 4-H program. These volunteers range from working at the club level to supervising other volunteers at the county, regional or state level. Locally, most 4-H volunteers serve as organizational (club) leaders and also as 4-H project leaders.
The majority of 4-H volunteer leaders are involved in direct service with youth — teaching, guiding and advising them in club or project work. In 2018, Colorado enrolled over 113,000 youth in 4-H and 8,600 adult volunteers. Phillips County’s 4-H enrollment for 2019 closed on March 1. There are 123 youth who are led by 35 caring adult volunteers. Without these volunteers, the 4-H program would not have the capability of providing youth development programs and life skills to our local youth.
