Help make 2019 a fair to remember by donating your time

You are sure to have bushels of fun at this year’s fair. “Bushels of Fun” is the theme for the 2019 Phillips County Fair, starting Wednesday, July 24, through Sunday, July 28.
The Heginbotham Hall of the Phillips County Event Center will be filled with general/family consumer science 4-H projects, open show displays and vendor displays. The new state-of-the-art Bank of Colorado Pavilion will be busy with all of the livestock shows and sale. There is much to take pride in by coming to the county fair.
It is a time to come together with friends and family to enjoy the talents of our community and all it has to offer. Many people are needed to make the whole week fun for everyone. Just a few of the featured events, along with the 4-H projects, 4-H livestock shows and vendor displays include the Thrashers cornhole tournament, ranch rodeo, Dutch oven cook-off, barrel racing, American Ninja Warrior course, model rocket expo, petting zoo, Heartland Pulling Tractor & Truck Pull, and “Bulls Gone Wild!” bull riding, bull fighting and mutton bustin’.
The open show displays, entered Wednesday, July 24, is a place to demonstrate the creative skills of people of all ages. Because there are so many opportunities to display the work of community members, volunteers are needed to make it a grand display and do each item justice. Volunteers are needed to take entries Wednesday, July 24, starting at 1 p.m. in the Phillips County Event Center.
Entries are taken in the following classes: garden, floriculture, baked and preserved goods, crafts, fine arts, quilts, special themes and the pre-K-third grade arts and craft show.
They enter the display name and details into the Show Works computer program. This program is designed to make payout and reporting easier at the end of the fair. The display is then printed a tag, which is then matched to the item. The tagged item is then placed in the class area in the display hall. This process is open to the public from 1-6 p.m.
