If you want to enjoy plants that don’t require a lot of attention, then succulents might be a houseplant for you. First, you must have a window that provides the most sun throughout the day. This means around six hours of sunlight per day. If that isn’t possible, you are in luck. Get a white fluorescent light 6-12 inches above the plant. Turn that white fluorescent light on after the sun is no longer directly in the window.

Here is a short list of the more popular succulents that do best inside during the winter. Aloe, Aloe vera is a good indoor succulent. Pencil cactus, Euphorbia tirucalli have pencil thickness for leaves. The plants are 2-3 feet tall and get as wide but can be easily pruned. Jade plants, Crassula ovata grow at a moderate rate and will get 1-2 feet tall and as wide.

Panda plant, Kalanchoe tomentosa grows to 12-18 inches tall and has whitish leaves with soft hairs covering them. Hahn’s bird nest, Sansevieria trifasciata is a compact plant growing up to 6 inches tall. It has a rosette of wide leaves with irregular horizontal lighter bands. Among this list, a houseplant that you may already have is what most believe is a palm. Pony-tail Palm, Beaucarnea recurvata has a base that flares with palm-like shape, stem and leaves.
