What’s my legacy

We will all leave a legacy of some sort when our time in this life is over. When our family and friends look back on our lives, they will be able to see that legacy. For some, the legacy left will be sparse. Their life would be somewhat lacking in anything substantial to grab hold of by those who remain. There may be some good memories, but possibly not much of a foundation laid for continuing generations to build upon. 

For others, their legacy will have been full and rich with a life well-lived. They will have devoted much of their rime to serving their family, their friends, their churches and their community. An enduring example will be left behind for many generations to follow. 

Our friend, Solomon, speaks of legacy today, “Falsehood and those who speak such will not endure, but the person who lives in truth will speak forever.”

In one of the Gospel accounts of Scripture, we have the parable of the wise man who builds his house upon a rock, and the foolish man who builds his house upon the sand. The false witness in our Proverb is akin to the foolish man who builds his life on the sand – on lies and trickery and selfishness and falsehood.
