6th-grade brain bowl state-bound; 4 Holyoke teams go to regionals
Holyoke brain bowl teams in grades 6-8 competed in the Optimist Brain Bowl regional tournament at Standley Lake High School on Jan. 6. A total of 95 teams competed.
The sixth-grade team competed against 20 teams. They scored 78 points and advanced to the finals. They won two of the three final rounds to place third overall and qualify for the state meet in February. They won the final consolation round in sudden-death overtime against Wiggins. Team members were Andrea Marquez, Isaiah Rueter, Anna Hayes, Adison Goldenstein, Joseph Schroetlin and Edel Ramos.
