8th-graders write storybooks
Several weeks ago, Holyoke eighth-grade students met with their first-grade buddies at Holyoke Elementary School. Each of the junior highers gathered information to write and illustrate a book with their first-grader as the main character.
The stories included real-life details about the younger kids as well as fictional elements like princesses, superheroes and unicorns. But it wasn’t all fun and games; each eighth-grader had to make sure their story taught a lesson such as obeying parents, being kind or taking responsibility for one’s actions.
