Administrator contracts confirmed

Three administrative contracts earned a positive nod at the March 19 Holyoke School District Re-1J Board of Education meeting.
Approval was given for the 2019-2020 contracts for Superintendent Kyle Stumpf, Holyoke JR/SR High Principal Shane Walkinshaw and Holyoke Elementary Principal Andrea Kammer. All three are finishing their first year in their positions.
The new-year contracts include the same salaries as this current year. Stumpf’s annual salary was set at $99,800 in a two-year contract a year ago, Walkinshaw at $78,000 for a 12-month contract and Kammer at $69,000 for an 11-month contract.
Once teacher salary increases are approved for 2019-2020, the board has the prerogative to increase administrator salaries, as well.

Energy savings remains key topic for district
In further discussion with regard to energy savings in the district, Stumpf reported that Will Benish with Schneider Electric was back in the district recently to ask a few more questions for preparing a business case analysis and report.
He added that the district is in the process of finding a time when the Colorado Department of Energy can come out for a face-to-face meeting to talk about grant application options.
Stumpf shared information on the Colorado Energy Performance Contracting Program through the Department of Energy, noting that Schneider Electric is a pre-approved partner for the program.

Policies move forward
Revised policies introduced last week covered the topics of waiver of state law and regulation, staff concerns/complaints/grievances, student records/release of information on students, opt-out form for disclosure of information to military recruiters, relations with military recruiters/postsecondary institutions/prospective employers and community use of school facilities.
Concern for security if doors are propped open for community use activities was addressed, and Stumpf said he will check into the wording regarding this in the district’s facility use agreements.
A revised policy on graduation requirements was approved on first reading as presented March 5. Ten additional policies and exhibits were given second-reading approval last week.

In other business March 19, the school board:
    — Approved JH track coaches, including head coach Allie Balog at a stipend of $1,825, and assistants Luke Goldenstein and Gina Martin at $1,241 each.
