Alumni classes encouraged to start HHS scholarships

    Maxine Briggs Stegall of the Class of 1956 said this is the last year the class will be organizing a scholarship for Holyoke High School graduates. “We urge other classes to take over,” she said. “It is an easy project.”
    The Class of 1956 simply sends out emails in November or December each year to remind the class to send contributions to the local contact. That person takes applications to the high school and selects a recipient. Then receipts are sent to the contributors.
    “It’s a good project for all classes,” said Briggs Stegall. “It’s a payback for the education we received.”
