Austin earns Doctor of Philosophy degree

Natalie Jo Austin of Denver graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a Doctor of Philosophy degree in special education with a focus on deaf education Dec. 12, 2020. Austin was joined by family and friends via Zoom for her doctorate hooding ceremony Dec. 11.  

During the course of her doctorate studies, Austin was a National Leadership Consortium in Sensory Disabilities fellow, studying at universities nationwide.

She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Fontbonne University in Saint Louis, Missouri.

Austin is a founder of FLOW Performance Sign Language Interpreting agency whose most profound ambition is to bring live sign language interpreting to all theatrical and musical performances.

A 1998 graduate of Holyoke High School, she is the daughter of Jim and Mary Austin.
