Bands fine tune skills for final concert of the school year

The 2018-2019 school year culminated with a spring concert for band students in grades 5-12. Instrumentalists showed off their fine-tuned skills to family and friends Tuesday, May 7, at the Holyoke High School auditorium.
Under the direction of Aaron Cottam, the fifth graders took the stage first. They performed “Marching Madness,” “Whisper and Shout,” “Skip to My Lou” and “This Old Man.”
The sixth graders were next, playing “Mexican Hat Dance,” “Ode to Joy” and “Midnight Mission.”
In the junior high portion of the concert, the band played “Cataclysm” and “Ancient City of Stone.”
A special treat was a performance by the new high school drumline. They put aside their drums and beat their sticks on chairs instead.
