Bennett qualifies for All-State Band

    Holyoke High School senior Trey Bennett has qualified for the 67th annual Colorado All-State Concert Band in the percussion section. The 100-piece band representing 41 high schools will assemble April 5-7 at the University  of Northern Colorado in Greeley, under the direction of guest conductor Greg Bimm.
    A total of 935 sophomores, juniors and seniors from 148 schools tried out for the band. Holyoke’s Lali Marquez was one of over 300 flutists to audition for 14 flute positions.
    Bennett began percussion when he was in fifth grade. Though he noted in years past he’s only been involved in league band and the Holyoke Honor Band, this year he’s qualified for big honors before finishing out his senior year. In addition to All-State Band, he will also be participating in the 56th annual Nebraska Honor Band at Hastings College from Feb. 1-3.
