Centennial Mental Health provides school-based Botvin LifeSkills Training

Today’s youth are experiencing new challenges in the world of social media around peer pressure and individualism. Individual insecurities are beginning to form much earlier than previously seen. Fortunately, Botvin LifeSkills Training caters to youth and teaches them valuable skills necessary to thrive in a changing society as they grow and develop into adolescents.
Botvin LifeSkills is taught in 30-45-minute sessions over the course of eight weeks, by one of Centennial Mental Health Center’s school-based substance prevention specialists. The specialist presents the material in classrooms and uses interactive and educational activities to teach youth necessary life skills appropriate for their age range. The program can be taught as early as fourth grade and continues into 12th. The fourth-fifth-grade program focuses on topics such as self-esteem, decision making, messages in advertising, communication skills and much more.
