Choirs sing loud, spread Christmas cheer

Christmas songs from funny to sincere combined in a well-rounded Dec. 11 concert featuring Holyoke’s junior high and high school choruses, as well as the HHS select choir, Sound Check.
Soloist Colby Purkeypile began the concert with “I’m No Stranger to the Rain,” accompanying himself on guitar. Other solos featured throughout the evening were Victoria Hatton singing “Adore” and Brenna Sullivan performing “O Holy Night.”
Duets included “Burning House,” sung by Kylie Purkeypile and Amy Mackay and “Jesus, Born this Day,” by Jaqueline Mosqueda and Jessica Mosqueda.
Always a crowd pleaser, Sound Check began with “Way Down in Bethlehem” and “In the Bleak Midwinter.” Concluding with an upbeat medley, “A Rock ‘n’ Roll Christmas” featured flashy choreography and soloists Brenna Gatton, Drew Stewart, Colby Purkeypile, Grace Dille, Tate Dille, Jalen Hunter, Jillian Hunter and Paola Ruiz. Sound Check is directed by Marcia Dalton and Maury Kramer.
