Choruses get in the Christmas spirit

From Keegan Shaw’s solo performance of “St. Jude” that brought down the house to the junior high’s corny jokes that made the audience groan, this year’s Christmas choral concert at Holyoke High School on Monday, Dec. 10, featured a range of entertainment.
Other solo performances included Kylie Purkeypile’s “Oceans” and Savannah Burris’ “Noel.” Colby Purkeypile teamed up with Maury Kramer for “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard,” and Jaqueline and Jessica Mosqueda sang “What Child is This/Child of the Poor.”
The HHS select choir, Sound Check, got its set going with “Rockin’ Christmas Celebration” and “Various Themes on Fa-La-La.” Sound Check then slowed things down with “This is my Wish,” featuring soloists Burris, Brenna Sullivan and Emily Chaney, before wrapping up with “Goin’ to Bethlehem.”
The high school chorus started off with “Christmas in 90 Seconds” and “Carol of the Bells.” “One Candle” featured soloists Paola Ruiz, Andrea Becerra, Anna Chaney, Emma Oakley and Wendy Chaparro Rangel. Andrew Rivera was the soloist for “You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch,” before the chorus finished with “Heaven Everywhere."
